About Waykin
Raising a child with autism or a developmental difference means facing a thousand questions — and a maze of conflicting advice. Waykin exists to make that path clearer: verified answers you can trust, and trusted local help, in one place.
Our mission
We help special-needs families get trustworthy answers and find the right local support — quickly, privately, and for free. No jargon, no sales pitch inside medical guidance, no dead ends. Waykin is built for the parent at 2 a.m. searching for an answer they can actually rely on.
How Waykin works
Ask anything about autism, therapy, IEPs, benefits, or daily life. Waykin answers from a library of verified, source-backed content — and shows you the source every time. Then it helps you find vetted local providers near your ZIP and connect in one tap. Your information is shared only when you choose to reach out.
Our technology
Waykin is a verification-first answer engine, not a generic chatbot. Under the hood:
- A verified knowledge base. Every answer is faithfully extracted from reputable sources — the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, NIH/NICHD, Medicaid.gov, and peer-reviewed clinical literature — and tagged with its source, trust tier, and topic.
- Source-grounded AI. For questions beyond the core library, Waykin uses grounded AI search (Google Gemini) with an OpenAI fallback — models that must cite real, authoritative sources rather than invent answers. Every response carries its citation.
- Safety gates. Crisis and emergency topics never get an AI guess — they route straight to real help (911 / the 988 Lifeline). Clinical content passes a source-strength gate before it's published.
- Semantic search + caching. Answers are matched by meaning, and common questions are served instantly from cache — fast, consistent, and low-cost.
- Privacy by design. No ads inside medical answers. Family contact details are shared with a provider only on explicit consent.
How we keep answers trustworthy
Every answer is grounded in a named, reputable source, shown on the page so you can verify it yourself. High-risk and clinical topics pass an additional source-strength check, and crisis topics always point to emergency help — never an AI response.
How Waykin stays free
Waykin is always free for families. Providers pay to be discoverable in the specific ZIP codes and topics they serve — that funds the platform without ever charging a parent or biasing a medical answer.
A note on safety
Waykin provides educational information, not medical, legal, or emergency advice. Always consult a qualified professional for your child's specific situation. In an emergency, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
